Arthroscopic Surgery

At Beverly Hills Orthopaedics in Michigan, we commonly use arthroscopy to resolve problems involving the shoulder and elbow, wrist, foot and ankle, and hip and knee, especially for minor injuries involving the tendons, ligaments, and joints.

Arthroscopic surgery is a minimally invasive treatment. The procedure allows the orthopedic surgeon to diagnose and repair damage at the same time. Using a small scope with a camera attached, the surgeon can examine the injury with amazing detail and make repairs by attaching appropriate tools to the end of the scope. The scope and surgical tools are inserted through two or three very small incisions, which generally do not require stitches to close.

Arthroscopy has many advantages over traditional (open) surgery, such as:

  • Smaller incisions
  • Less scar tissue
  • Reduced recovery time
  • Less pain for the patient
